London is one of the most diverse, modern, vibrant and upbeat capitals of the world. It needs little introduction as it is popularly known all across the world. You may have already visited the city through Jane Austen’s novels and through JK Rowling’s adventures in the Harry Potter books. Is it time for another visit? I believe yes. I promise that London is every bit as exciting and stirring is it sounds in the books and looks in the movies. Go see for yourself if you don’t believe me.
Booking Flights to London
The Heathrow airport is considered one of the busiest ones due to a reason. Flights to London seldom go empty. Aircrafts are mostly brimming with excited tourists and businessmen. This is why booking flights to London may be a little tricky for first timers. When looking for a flight, you have to take care of a few things. Firstly, be flexible with your travel dates. Secondly, find budget carriers. Thirdly, preferably be part of a frequent flyer program. Fourthly, be on the lookout for discounts, especially if you are a student. And lastly, always be on the mailing list of all airlines.
When to Fly
London is one of those few cities that have a mild and beautiful weather all year round. However it can get a little cold in the winters. Personally I believe June, July and August (summers) are ideal for a visit but sometimes big crowds get overwhelming. So as a next option, consider the months of September, October and November (autumn). No matter what time of the year you choose to go, London remains equally fun, but you must carry an umbrella at ALL times. It can rain anytime, anywhere in London.
Where to shop
Is London a shopping heaven? Yes. Is shopping expensive in London? Again yes. So you better start saving up now. Oxford Street is of course the best place for shopping hands down. Next in line is the Regent Street, followed by the Bond Street and Mayfair. Don’t forget to visit Covent Garden and Carnaby Street too!
Where to eat
Naturally there are plenty of eateries in London. But some are definitely better than others. The Good life eatery, The Ledbury, Duck & Waffle, Brasserie Zédel, Baozi Inn and Typing room are a few of the must try restaurants.
