Hawaii is home to many great areas to camp at, but Maui is where the most gorgeous places are. When it comes to camping in Maui Hawaii, there are a few spots you’ll want to consider. With that said, the top places for camping in Maui include:
Camp Olowalu
Camp Olowalu is privately owned and it is easily one of the best places for camping in Maui. It is extremely clean and well-maintained and is one of the more comfortable places to camp at. Not only that, but there’s no shortage of positive reviews written about them.
Besides that, there are many activities you can do here. This includes renting equipment so you can take part in a bit of kayaking or snorkeling. Other activities include paddle boarding or swimming. If you decide to camp here, then you won’t be too far from some of the most gorgeous reefs.
As for what you can camp in, you have several options, such as staying in a large cabin or you can stay in a tent located right by the beach but do keep in mind that the tent is not included. If you are renting a camper RV, then feel free to camp in that. There are also tent-a-lows available to rent.
Camp Keanae
This camp is also privately owned, and it is ran by the YMCA. It is known for the views of the Keanae Peninsula. The camp is located right near an old Hawaiian village, as well as a short walk to Keanae Arboretum. A church that was built in the mid-1800s can also be found in the area.
We highly recommend renting a cabin, but feel free to bring your own tent, which will only run you around $25/per person, per night. However, if you can afford it and want to really treat yourself to the ultimate Camp Keanae experience, then rent a cottage that offers spectacular views of the ocean. The choice is up to you, but you really can’t go wrong with any of those accommodation options.
As for facilities, there are several. The camp offers a pond you can swim in, as well as both a fitness center and a gym. Besides that, there are fire pits you can use, as well as bath houses where you can take a shower.
Haleakala National Park
The last on our list is this national park, which offers several areas to camp at. Two camping areas are easily accessible, but there are a few you’ll have to be prepared to hike to. If you like amazing views, hiking, cycling, barbecuing and so forth, then there’s no better place to spend a few days camping than Haleakala National Park.
Those are the top places for camping in Maui. Bear in mind those are only a few of the many places you can camp at while in Maui, but they rank among the best. All you must do now is compare each one in more depth, and then you can decide which place to camp at first.
